People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.
The National Institute of Building Sciences, an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Ryan M. Colker as director of the organization's newly restructured Consultative Council. The council serves as a forum where all sectors of the building community can work together to identify major issues and make recommendations to the President and Congress to improve the nation's buildings and infrastructure.

Previously Mr. Colker served as manager of government affairs at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), where he organized and supported several coalitions to advance legislation and regulations impacting buildings. Prior to that Mr. Colker served as the program director of the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation, where he was the lead staff member in charge of interdisciplinary programs for a 14-member consortium of natural resource professional and scientific organizations.

Mr. Colker holds a juris doctorate from the George Washington University Law School, and is a licensed member of the Maryland Bar. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor of arts in environmental policy.
