The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has named David Fisher to lead its Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA), the collective voice of medical imaging equipment manufacturers, innovators, and product developers.
Mr. Fisher has held a number of senior level jobs in the federal government over the past 12 years. He has served most recently as senior health policy advisor for the Senate Budget Committee, and previously as associate director of the Office of Management and Budget, where he oversaw the Departments of Health and Human Services, Education and Labor, the Social Security Administration, Railroad Retirement Board, and a number of programs administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He held positions with the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the Budget Committee in the Senate, and also served as government relations manager for Medtronic, Inc., where he advocated healthcare issues important to the medical device industry.
"Knowledge of the legislative process is integral to the medical imaging industry's future of improving medicine," said NEMA president and CEO Evan R. Gaddis. "That coupled with Dave's experience in government relations will be a tremendous asset to MITA."
Mr. Fisher holds a B.A. in government and a master's in public policy from Georgetown University.
