PennEngineering® Expands Operations in Ireland with New 80,000-Square-Foot Facility
PennEngineering®, a global leader in fastening technologies, has expanded operations in Galway, Ireland, with a new 80,000-square-foot manufacturing and research facility. The new facility becomes the primary manufacturing site for all PEM® self-clinching fastener products sold throughout Europe. In addition, the site houses a newly created Research and Development Center and an Application Engineering Center providing all-encompassing custom fastener and installation design and test capabilities.
The expansion raises the total footprint of PennEngineering operations in Galway to more than 200,000 square feet. The site currently employs 200 employees and with the mission to serve the Company’s growing markets in Europe, including industrial, automotive, electronics, medical, energy, and aviation sectors.
An opening event for the new facility in September 2017 was attended by PennEngineering’s customers, partners in Europe, major global customers, representatives from the Company’s other manufacturing sites from around the world, representatives of local businesses, and government and education officials, among others.
The new facility is an especially environmentally friendly site incorporating the latest sustainability and ecological technologies, sensor-controlled automatic-dimming lighting, and waste-oil and heat-recovery systems, among other innovations.
PennEngineering first launched operations in Galway in 2001, when it acquired Precision Steel Components.
