PECO Enhancing Customer Service for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses


PHILADELPHIA, May 15 / -- PECO this month enhanced service for more than 130,000 of its small to mid-size business customers by establishing a dedicated team of contact center professionals to handle their inquiries.

The group of contact center representatives dedicated to businesses is the PECO Business Customer Service Team. This team is in addition to an existing, dedicated toll-free customer service number specifically for PECO business customers, 800-220-PECO (800-220-7326). The team will work exclusively with business customers. Previously, contact center employees handled questions and comments from both residential and business customers.

"We are responding to feedback from our business customers who want specialized attention from our customer service representatives," said Phyllis Batson, vice president of Customer Contact for PECO, responsible for managing all contact center operations. "During this period of increasing competition in Pennsylvania's electric and gas industry, it is vital that our business customers have access to a team of customer service reps who have expertise regarding the unique service and energy issues facing businesses."

These employees will seek improvements in providing business customers with accurate and timely information around outages, billing questions, energy conservation, and turn-on/turn-off services. In addition to an improved and greater business focus, this initiative will ensure that appropriate staffing remains available for business customers.

"The team will improve overall customer satisfaction and contact center efficiency," Batson said.

The hours for the business customer contact center operations are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PECO's large business and industrial customers will continue to have an account representative assigned to them for their questions and service needs.
