Peachtree Packaging & Display Wins Two Awards in International Packaging Design Competition

Peachtree Packaging’s retail displays garner 1st and 3rd place awards from the AICC 2019 Independent Packaging Design Competition.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. (PRWEB) SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 - Peachtree Packaging & Display has received two international design awards for its innovative semi-permanent/corrugated point-of-purchase (POP) displays from AICC’s 2019 Independent Packaging Design Competition. Peachtree Packaging was recognized for its Black Box Wine coffin display with a first place award in the category of “Best Use of Corrugated Replacing Other Substrates” and its Ryobi Days train display with a third place award in the category of “Floor Displays, Designed to Merchandise Product.”

“These two displays really exemplify how our amazing design team shines in the area of engineering unique solutions that overcome design and cost challenges,” said Chad Wagner, President and CEO of Peachtree Packaging. “We try to remove all roadblocks that might limit creativity by giving our clients access to the absolute best technology, equipment and engineers in the industry. There is no design challenge our team is not willing to take head on and turn into an amazing display that helps consumers connect with a company’s brand.”

The uniquely shaped coffin display is manufactured completely out of corrugated cardboard and holds 24 3-liter boxes of wine. The coffin display is designed as a single piece, and as such can be shipped fully assembled with no setup required. Using only corrugated materials, Peachtree created a display that stands out while remaining cost-effective and recyclable.

“Originally the client thought the display would have to be made out of wood to accommodate the 160 pounds of product that would be stocked on each display and only planned to create about 150 displays as a result,” said Paul Terry, Display Division Manager for Peachtree Packaging. “However, we were able to engineer an all-corrugated solution at a lower cost, allowing the client to place displays in nearly 900 retail locations last year and more than 1500 this year.”

The Ryobi Days train display is one of the longest displays Peachtree Packaging has ever made. It was created for Ryobi to promote its annual 35-day Ryobi Days buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) sale held prior to and during Father’s Day. This massive project included 133 parts per display, designed to showcase 475 different products, representing 39 stock keeping units (SKUs). While impressive in size, the display’s genius lies in its ability to adapt as items are sold. Instead of four to five large sections with four to six SKUs, the display has 25 sections, many of which hold a single SKU. As sections sell out they can easily be removed, maximizing the longevity of the display. The display was prominently featured in 2,140 Home Depot stores across the nation.

Peachtree’s displays were chosen from more than 145 entries from 32 member companies by a panel of judges at the Independent Packaging Association’s (AICC) Annual Meeting held in Toronto September 16-18. Entries had to be manufactured between September 2017 and 2019. The biennial competition features corrugated, folding carton and rigid box categories and has been held since 1981.

Established in 1974, the AICC represents the business interests of the independent sector of the corrugated, folding carton and rigid box industries and manufacturers. The AICC has the largest organization of corporate members in corrugated and paperboard and is also affiliated with the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation.
