Paulson Training and Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics to Conduct a Training Seminar on Engineered Purging Compounds at NPE 2006

(BUFFALO, NEW YORK) - The rising cost of resins, combined with the need to be more productive and competitive in a global marketplace, has focused significant recent attention on plastic processors using commercial purging compounds to lower costs, reduce scrap and cut downtime. Paulson Training Programs, Inc., and the Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics, Inc. will address these concerns during a new training seminar, "Engineered Purging Compounds," Tuesday, June 20 at the 2006 National Plastics Exposition (NPE) in Chicago, Illinois. Held from 4:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m., in McCormick Place, South Building, Level 4, Room 5403b, Engineered Purging Compounds is part of the afternoon agenda on "Materials" hosted by NPE, included in its Tuesday program on Global & Domestic Competition.

The training seminar on purging will cover why it is important to purge, differences between purging compounds (e.g. chemical, mechanical), and purging procedures and applications for injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. A new training video produced by Paulson Training Programs and Dyna-Purge will provide specific detail for different equipment (e.g. cold runner vs. hot runner), and a variety of resins (e.g. high temperature, soft-touch polymers).

Scott Paulson, President, Paulson Training Programs, and Tim Cutler, Business Manager for Dyna-Purge will be the speakers at the seminar. Paulson is responsible for marketing, business development, and company operations at Paulson Training Programs, which was founded in 1976 by his father, Donald Paulson. Scott Paulson earned a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from Central Connecticut State University and joined the company in 1998, assisting with product development and then writing and producing training products.

Cutler joined Shuman Plastics/Dyna-Purge in 2001, and was previously Director of Sales & Marketing for the adhesives and coatings division of Pratt & Lambert. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a BBA, Cutler currently serves as the Industry Expert for Purging at www.Ides.com, an online plastics industry portal. In addition to Paulson and Cutler, a panel of plastics processing industry members, experienced in the use of commercial purging compounds will participate in the Question-and-Answer session.

Paulson Training Programs, Inc., Chester, Connecticut, is a leading provider of technical training programs for the plastics manufacturing industry. Shuman Plastics, Inc., Buffalo, New York, has provided resin trading and toll processing services for nearly 60 years, and helped pioneer purging compounds by introducing Dyna-Purge more than 20 years ago.
