Papers Invited for Eleventh International ASTM/ESIS Symposium on Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., - Papers are invited for the Eleventh International ASTM/ESIS Symposium on Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics (38th ASTM National Symposium on Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics), which is being sponsored by ASTM Committee E08 on Fatigue and Fracture and the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS). The symposium will be held May 18-20, 2011, in conjunction with the May 16-19 standards development meetings of the committee.
The symposium will focus on fatigue crack growth. Emphasis will be placed on papers on the following topics: crack closure effects; adjusted compliance ratio method as an alternate closure assessment methodology; residual stress effects; and crack growth in the near-threshold regime. Papers considering both experimental research efforts and modeling based efforts are of interest.
Interested presenters must submit a 250-300 word abstract online at www.astm.org/E08symp511.htm by Aug. 18, 2010. The symposium co-chairs will notify you by Sept. 18, 2010, of your paper's acceptability for presentation. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI).
