Paper Mill in Spain to be Powered by GE Energy Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Generator

MADRID, SPAIN-June 27, 2007-COGENERACIN UFIC, S.A. has purchased an LM2500+PR aeroderivative gas turbine generator from GE Energy supported by a six-year contractual service agreement (CSA) for the Union Industrial Papelera S.A. (UIPSA)'s paper mill, located near Barcelona, Spain.

The LM2500+PR will operate in the paper mill facility where steam supply availability is very important. It is equipped with an evaporative cooler and a dry low emissions combustion system for NOx abatement down to 50 mg/Nm3 and will be fueled by pipeline-quality natural gas. The six-year CSA is a full-coverage agreement with an availability guarantee.

The unit will provide 28 megawatts of electrical power at site conditions and 15 degrees Celsius ambient temperature. The combined-cycle plant generates a total of 35 megawatts of power.

Selection of the LM2500+PR gas turbine generator for this project further demonstrates the versatility of our product offering, said Charles (Chip) Blankenship, general manager of GE Energy's aeroderivative division. COGENERACIN will be able to provide efficient and reliable power to the UIPSA paper mill plant and the national grid through GE Energy's proven technology and services.

COGENERACIN UFIC is the power generation company owned by UIPSA that is in charge of building, operating and maintaining the power plants serving UIPSA's facilities.
The equipment will be shipped in September 2007 and commercial operation is planned for February 2008.

GE Energy's aeroderivative division is a leading supplier of aeroderivative gas turbines and packaged generator sets for industrial and marine applications.
