Optiant Announces Agreement to Acquire Leading Supply Chain Network Design Technology Provider, Slim Technologies

Boston, Mass., Feb. 23: In a move to strengthen its overall capabilities, Optiant, a leading provider of inventory planning and optimization solutions, today announced an agreement to acquire SLIM Technologies, a leading provider of supply chain network design technology solutions. Privately held and based in Boston, SLIM Technologies provides supply chain network design solutions to more than 60 customers around the world in retail, consumer goods, chemicals, industrial products and medical industries, including some that are joint Optiant customers. Terms of this agreement will not be disclosed.

The SLIM Technologies acquisition extends Optiant's solution footprint beyond its current supply chain planning and inventory optimization leadership position. This combination of supply chain network design and inventory optimization solutions strengthens Optiant's ability to deliver customers integrated, advanced decision support tools, that are both strategic and tactical capabilities for supporting more intelligent and resilient supply chain planning, as well as total inventory deployment strategies.

"Optiant's vision is to enable our customers to make strategic and intelligent decisions across their global supply chain," said Jonathan Colehower, CEO of Optiant. "This acquisition is a natural fit for Optiant. It provides our customers with a more comprehensive solution for total supply chain network and inventory planning and optimization, and represents our next steps for delivering superior value to our customers and shareholders."

"With this acquisition, Optiant should make itself more competitive in head-to-head situations, while gaining new opportunities to penetrate companies that view supply chain optimization as a strategic core competency," said research director Mark Hillman in an AMR Research article published today.

Additionally, the acquisition paves the way for existing SLIM Technologies customers to take advantage of Optiant's PowerChain(TM) suite of solutions that include supply chain modeling and visualization, strategic supply chain analysis, inventory and production policy optimization, and supply chain intelligence.

"Integrating our company with Optiant will bring tremendous value to our customers and to the market as a whole," said Dr. Jeremy Shapiro, president and CEO of SLIM Technologies. "Our track record for optimizing complex global supply chain networks, combined with our supply chain design software will extend Optiant's position as the leader in supply chain planning and inventory optimization."

Optiant will assume support for SLIM Technologies' full list of installed base customers in the consumer products, retail, chemicals, and multiple manufacturing markets.

About SLIM Technologies

SLIM Technologies has been helping leaders in the retail, consumer goods, industrial manufacturing and medical products optimize their supply chain strategies since 2000. Based on years of experience, we understand that "one-size fits all" supply chain network modeling doesn't work in today's complex global supply chains. That's why our supply chain design software offers Pinpoint Optimization, or the unique ability to move from macro to micro analysis across all critical supply chain dimensions - time, geography, costs and capacities. Customers like Alcoa, Best Foods, Canadian Tire, Doane Pet Care, Finn Forest, Genencor and IKEA enjoy substantial cost savings that translates directly to their bottom line.
