Tooling U Releases Online Training Content for Composites
CLEVELAND, Ohio - To meet the needs of manufacturers who are increasingly using non-traditional materials in their manufacturing process, Tooling U announces a new web-based composites training program.
Tooling U, a leading provider of online training for the manufacturing industry, introduced this new curriculum during the Society of Manufacturing Engineer's Composites Manufacturing Conference in Dayton, Ohio, this week.
"As manufacturers shift toward more exotic materials, they require training that addresses these new processes and materials," said Chad Schron, division manager, Tooling U. "Now that we're supporting companies in aerospace, we need to expand from our metal-based manufacturing focus to incorporate training for these modern materials."
The composites curriculum contains 12 titles that focus on topics and processes such as lay-up, spray-up, vacuum bagging, compression molding and composite repair methods. Additional online classes focus on the material composition and resins of traditional and advanced composites.
Along with all other Tooling U content, the composites training is delivered via a learning management system (LMS) that enables companies to administer and track training results for every employee. Companies can also customize and create individually tailored training programs that target specific knowledge gaps and prepare an individual for various roles within the company. The Tooling U composites training is applicable for production employees, engineers, sourcing and technical sales.
In addition to the aerospace industry, Schron added that composites training can support companies in new and green energy fields, sporting goods and other manufacturing involving the use of composite materials.
