Oki Data to Develop Printer and Multifunction Printer Software in China


Tokyo (JCNN) - Oki Data established Oki Data Dalian in Dalian, China, that develops software for printers and multifunction printers, on September 1. The new subsidiary began operation on October 1.

Oki's first overseas software developer and its second company formed in China, Oki Data Dalian is capitalized at $700,000. The company develops software such as driver, utility, installer for monochrome LED printers, as well as customizes printers and multifunction printers sold in other Asian countries as well as in Australia. The new company also provides language localization service.

Oki has been producing dot impact printers in Shenzhen since July 2002, and has expanded its product lineup to include monochrome and color LED printers.

In Beijing, too, Oki owns a sales site. The company will aim to acquire a 10% share in the Chinese color printer market and a 30% share in the dot impact printer market in China by 2007.
