NUM's CNC System Makes Programming Spin Forming a Breeze

Exhibiting at IMTS in Chicago, Sept. 6 to 13, Booth D-3232

Chicago, September 12, 2006
NUM's Axium Power CNC system combines a compact CNC with powerful on-board programming tools for spin-forming processes. The embedded spinning functionality, together with guided pre-form and spin-cycle setup routines, is combined with a graphical and user-friendly interface, known as the HMI, to provide a highly specialized and economical control solution with minimal integration effort and setup time. It is ideal for new machines or complete retrofits or re-controls only.

This system features a joystick jog interface, a record-and-playback feature, on-the-fly hand-wheel correction, a travel limit safety zone from a 2-D template, and an interface to hydraulic servo systems.

The Windows-based process entry screen provides the machine operator with an easy-to-learn interface to enter the setup data in a clear, concise manner. The operator does not have to use ISO programming-he simply answers the questions the program presents and teaches safety zones and spinning passes. After this session, the spinning program is automatically generated and stored and is ready for execution. Online "help files" make operation a snap. This solution will be presented at the IMTS trade show at McCormick Place in Chicago from Sept. 6 to 13 at the NUM Corporation booth, D-3232.
