Novell Identity Management Solution Wins InfoWorld Review

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Oct. 10, 2005 -- Novell today announced its
market-leading Identity Management product, Novell(R) Identity Manager,
received the highest score in a comprehensive review of major identity
management solutions by InfoWorld. InfoWorld tested and compared
identity management solutions from Courion, IBM*, Microsoft*, Novell,
Sun* and Thor, running each of them through a series of identity
management tasks based on a common business plot and simulated employee
lifecycle. Novell received consistently high marks across all the
scorecard criteria-management, integration, configuration, cohesion and
value. According to the review, Novell Identity Manager demonstrated
clear benefits including "powerful graphical workflow and front-end
design tools and perhaps the most intuitive user interface in our
roundup."
"From administration to reporting, Novell Identity Manager proved to be
one of the easiest-to-use solutions in the roundup," according to the
InfoWorld article. "Novell had a definite edge in the [user interface]
department. In fact, we were already sufficiently impressed, and then
they pulled out Designer. Designer gives the Novell solution a definite
ooh-aah factor not found in any of the other products here."
The review highlights how Novell Identity Manager and eDirectory(TM)
tie together data from multiple systems, allowing for greater
flexibility and granularity than competitive solutions. It also notes
that Designer for Identity Manager, an Eclipse-based visual development
tool, allows much of the configuration to be done in a simulated
environment, allowing administrators to design an identity
implementation blueprint and test "what-if" scenarios before deploying
in production.
"Novell Identity Manager is a great example of our commitment to
providing products with superior functionality and manageability," said
Bill Clark, Novell vice president of global product marketing, Identity
and Access Management. "By delivering world class usability and
cross-platform integration, Novell can help organizations secure their
IT infrastructure, comply with regulatory mandates and ensure the
privacy of sensitive information. We're thrilled to be recognized for
our business value by InfoWorld."
The full results are published in the Oct. 10, 2005 issue of InfoWorld.
