Chicago, Illinois - October 2005 - Superior Manufacturing Group (SMG), has developed GSII technology, bringing high performance to the world of industrial floor matting. GSII products excel in harsh industrial environments where aggressive chemicals such as mineral oil based cutting fluids, transmission fluids, motor oils, and hydraulic fluids are commonly found.
The main challenge of safety matting in these demanding environments is durability. In wet applications, additional traction is needed, so a grit coating is often applied to the surface of the mat. Grit coated matting that is continuously subjected to industrial chemicals, fluids, oils, and greases, can prematurely "break-down" causing the rubber to swell, and grit particles to literally break away from the top surface of the mat. The end result...matting that no longer fits together properly, creating a trip hazard, and reduced traction where the grit has chipped away from the surface of the mat.
GSII technology attacks the problem at its source by combining the benefits of 100% Nitrile rubber, known for its high degree of resistance to chemicals, oils, and greases, with an aggressive silicon carbide grit, and a specially formulated adhesive that bonds the grit to the mat surface. The combination of these three components allows the matting to resist the chemicals that would cause it to break-down, while providing long lasting traction by keeping the grit where it belongs, on the surface of the mat.
The Cushion-Ease series is now available with GSII technology and comes in two versions; Niru Cushion-Ease GSII with large drainage holes to facilitate the removal of liquids and debris from the work area, and Niru Cushion-Ease Solid GSII with a solid top construction that's easy to clean, and offers anti-fatigue relief and added traction in dry environments where exposure to chemicals, oils, and greases is light to moderate.
Like all Cushion-Ease series products, GSII matting has a modular design that can accommodate a variety of custom configurations. Individual mat pieces can also be replaced as needed. GSII products are fully compatible with the NoTrax patented 551 M.D. ramp system. These 100% nitrile ramps reduce trip hazards and allow for easy access on and off of the mat.
