Nortek and Oceanscience Gain from "Clamparatus" Sales

San Diego, CA-The Oceanscience Group (San Diego, CA) is pleased to announce multiple contract awards from the US Government for its unique buoy mount system, the "Clamparatus". The Oceanscience system facilitates provision of real time navigation data by securing the Nortek Aquadopp acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and associated data transmission equipment to standard Aid to Navigation (ATON) buoys. Current velocity information from the Nortek ADCP on the Clamparatus is continuously telemetered to the shore station, and from there offered to ship operations to assist navigation through the NOAA PORTS system. The contracts will supply the Clamparatus for US Coast Guard ATON buoys, further expanding the availability of real time data in major ports and bays.

Originally designed in 2000 through the collaboration of Nortek USA and Oceanscience, the Clamparatus and Aquadopp current profiler combination was recognized by NOAA as a reliable and robust method to obtain valuable navigation data. NOAA has since placed Clamparatii and Aquadopp ADCPs on ATON buoys along US Coastlines in many major ports.

Private port, harbor and university research groups have also installed these systems for real-time monitoring of ocean currents.
