Original Press Release:

NIMS to Allow Customers to Use their Own Projects for Credentialing

NIMS is excited to announce the official launch of our Performance Measure (PM) Development Requirements which outline the documentation customers need to submit to use their own projects to validate performance for NIMS credentials.

This means that schools and employers will no longer be required to use the standard NIMS parts or Credentialing Achievement Records for their students and employees to be eligible to earn our credentials. Projects must be submitted to NIMS for review prior to being accepted and may be used internally by the submitting organization or shared with the NIMS community to promote your program. Customers will still be able to use standard NIMS parts and CARs at this time if you are unable or not interested in using your own parts.

NIMS will host a webinar on Tuesday, November 12th at 1:30-3:00 pm EST to review the components of our new Performance Measure system. Please Click here to Register for the Webinar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. If you are unable to attend live, there will be a recording sent out to all those who register.

Prior to attending the webinar, please review the PM Development Requirements which detail the concept and process for developing PMs and offer any comments/questions through this Feedback Form by Monday, October 28th. We will address your questions and comments on the webinar.

To see an example of a fully developed PM, please take a look at our new Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) credentials (CAM Milling Level 1 and CAM Turning Level 1), the first NIMS credentials to utilize PMs. They have just been released.

We will keep our community updated on our progress and we thank you for your comments and participation in the webinar.
