NFPA's Economic Outlook Conference & Educator/Industry Summit Two Big Fluid Power Events Under One Roof

Milwaukee, WI - May 21, 2007 - The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) will look into the future of fluid power and examine the industry's economic expectations and technological opportunities at the Economic Outlook Conference & Educator/Industry Summit on August 21-23 at the Westin Chicago North Shore in Wheeling, Illinois. Together these two conferences provide an unmatched combination of key industry events. For the first time, the Educator/Industry Summit will immediately precede the Economic Outlook Conference. Registration is now open at www.nfpa.com or call NFPA directly at 414-778-3344.

NFPA Educator/Industry Summit on August 21-22, 2007

NFPA continues to build on the momentum and success of education initiatives by hosting the fifth Educator/Industry Summit. This event is a must-attend for everyone in your organization who would benefit from seeing research that is driving technology breakthroughs. Projects will be presented by the best and the brightest fluid power engineering students who could be a part of your future workforce.

The 2007 Summit general session will feature an examination of the state of fluid power education at the high school, technical college and university levels. A panel discussion on the question of whether the industry should pursue its own university degree program will also be featured. Panelists scheduled to discuss this question from both the industry and university perspectives include Paul Heney, Senior Editor of Hydraulics and Pneumatics magazine, who broached the subject in an H&P editorial earlier this year; Joe Kovach, Vice President of Technology and Innovation at Parker Hannifin; and Kim Stelson, the Director of the new Engineering Research Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power.

Following these presentations, Summit participants will be asked to engage in roundtable discussions to develop recommendations to improve fluid power education. With both industry and education well represented at the Summit, these discussions will provide an ideal opportunity to identify practical strategies to address educational challenges in fluid power.

In addition to special general session presentations, Poster Sessions will again be an important feature of the Summit. New at this Summit - the three, top-ranked posters will be given featured presentation time during the general session.
