Makino showcases advanced machines, technologies and applications expertise in booths A-8301 and D-4101

MASON, OHIO - July 2008 - Makino demonstrates its new products and machining technologies at the 2008 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, September 8-13. Several new machines, machining demonstrations and new process techniques will be displayed at the main Makino Booth 8301 in Hall A of the South Building and the EDM Pavilion Booth D-4101.

"We invite manufacturers to visit both our booths to see Makino's new machines and processes," says Mark Rentschler, Makino marketing manager. "Our technical staff will be on hand to help solve your production problems, and we'll even have Makino users discussing how they are utilizing Makino technology and applications expertise in our popular Lunch-and-Learn series."

New Machines and Featured Processes

Makino will be introducing a number of new machines at this year's IMTS, including the MAG1 5-axis horizontal machining center for aerospace structural parts up to 1.5 meters, D500 5-axis vertical machining center designed for job-shop production, the DUO-series next-generation wire EDM machines, and the V33i vertical machining center with unmatched accuracies for hardmilling. All new machines will be cutting live on the show floor.

In addition to the new machines, Makino will have several processes and dozens of parts on display, along with many of the manufacturers who created the parts to discuss the process and their use of Makino technology.

Demonstrations will include:

A variety of machining cells and systems, including a unique lean cell with an a51 horizontal machining center integrated with the new D500, producing medical and production parts.

A new track-type pallet system connected to an a81M machining a compacted graphite iron engine block complete in three operations.

Several innovative titanium milling solutions that increase metal removal rates and lower the cost per part, including a titanium bulkhead machining demonstration.
The G5 will demonstrate grinding on a horizontal machining center, assisted by an integrated robot loading system.

Lunch and Learns

In addition to the displays at IMTS, Makino will be hosting Lunch-and-Learn events each day of the show that will include presentations from actual Makino users discussing their real world applications. Topics include lean parts production operations, EDM technologies, milling hardened materials, automation, and micromachining.

Events will be held from 12pm - 1pm daily in room S104b in the South Hall. Lunch will be provided and the presenters will be available for questions after each presentation. The full Lunch-and-Learn schedule and registration is available at makino.com/imts.
