New Product Managers Expand Groschopp Product Offerings in Motors, Gearmotors and Controls

Driving Product Launch of Application-Specific Motors and Gearmotors for Medical Equipment Design and Harsh Environments

John Cox, President of Groschopp, Inc., announced the appointment of two new Product Managers, Jon Roetman and Stanton Spaulding. "We are organizing and managing our products around hundreds, if not thousands of successful OEM applications," stated Cox. "This mindset will help us efficiently communicate to the marketplace Groschopp's greatest strength - a wealth of products and decades of OEM applications expertise."

Spaulding is responsible for managing the company's efforts with Universal, Permanent Magnet (PM) DC and Brushless DC Motors and Gearmotors and brings experience from custom industrial machine design, the printing industry, and a variety of manufacturing environments. He is spearheading the development of a controls line for PM DC motors, and immediately following will be introducing Brushless DC motor controls.

"Our new controls have been developed and tested to optimize motor and gearmotor performance," said Spaulding. "They are engineered for robust performance. As an example, we have specified higher temperature ratings on all of the components," he noted.

Spaulding also described the new controls as having an improved user interface and logical board layout that makes them easy to install. The controls line is based on a "no frills," high-reliability design, with specific control features that are important to the industrial OEMs that Groschopp serves.

"Soon we will be introducing our line of IPX4 and IP66 motors and gearmotors for harsh environment applications," Spaulding said. "We've had years of success with these products in a variety of applications, and will be making these pre-engineered solutions available across our product lines."

Jon Roetman brings over 15 years of experience in the automotive mechanical and maintenance business. He is managing the company's AC Motor and Gearmotor lines, and will be expanding the complete offering of Speed Reducers - Parallel Shaft, Right Angle, and Planetary - and Gearmotors. With this speed reducer product expansion, Groschopp will have over 100,000 product combinations.

"We've made significant progress in bringing a new range of planetary speed reducers based on both metal and plastic gearing technologies," said Roetman. The plastic planetary ranges from 22 mm up to 52 mm. Roetman notes that the plastic planetary has been a perfect fit in applications where a low-noise, quiet gearmotor is imperative. Plastic planetary gears are also a cost-effective solution in low torque applications (below 100 in-lb.).

The metal planetary has been expanded to a range of 22 mm up to 120 mm (diameter). "Metal planetary reducers are perfect for many high torque applications," stated Roetman. "All of these products complement our existing planetary product line to give Groschopp a wider range of applications, price points, and performance-specific strengths."

Roetman will also be leading the company's introduction of a complete line of motors and gearmotors that are pre-engineered for the demands of Medical Equipment OEM applications, describing them as quiet, highly reliable, with precise operation and a compact package. This line will be introduced in early 2008.
