New PESA Xstream Live App Enhances Game-Day Experience with Customized Video Streaming

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of professional audio and video connectivity, today announced PESA Xstream Live, a new streaming app for iOS and Android smart devices that works in conjunction with the PESA Xstream C58 streaming appliance to allow users to view customized streaming video during live events. PESA Xstream Live will be demonstrated at the 2014 NAB Show (Booth SL4619), which runs through April 10 in Las Vegas,Nev.

PESA Xstream Live delivers a video stream that allows users to quickly change between four available camera views without lip sync disruption. In portrait mode, the "main view" displays one of the four sources on the top of the screen, with smaller windows of all four sources grouped below it. Users can touch any camera view to instantly change the main view. Landscape mode features a quad view layout with all four sources on the screen – tap any source to select it as main view, and all four sources move to a mini view window in the top-right corner.

An intuitive user interface makes it easy for attendees to add or select sources during the event. The chat-enabled app also allows users to interact with others through Twitter and other social media sites during the event without missing any of the audio or video presentation.

Ad insertion capabilities allow content producers to promote local businesses, upcoming events or in-stadium services. Logos or other branding can be easily added to the video stream as well. PESA Xstream Live can also be used to drive on-site kiosks using an iPad's Guided Access mode. Content can be distributed locally by limiting access to the venue's Wi-Fi or published globally to a content distribution network (CDN).

"Today's attendees want to access relevant content during the game and other events on their smart phones and tablets. PESA Xstream Live is a great way for sports venues and other entertainment complexes to package customized video coverage for on-site consumers," said Chris Thomas, PESA CTO. "It enhances the attendee experience while creating additional revenue streams through advertising or special offers."

The PESA Xstream product family rewrites the standards for affordable streaming. The rear panel of the compact, 1 RU, PESA XSTREAM C58 is filled with connector options, which simplifies integration and configuration of audio and video sources. Video formats including NTSC/PAL, SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI can be combined with decoded IP video sources to create up to five simultaneous full-screen streams and one quad view stream. PESA Xstream also allows up to eight audio input sources to be combined, synchronized and mixed in real time with any or every video stream, which eliminates timing and latency issues.

PESA Xstream Live will be available in late 2014.
