New Extrusion Line

Blackwell Plastics steps up their capacity by adding a 3.5" extruder and downstream equipment positioning the company to produce specialty pipe and tubing to 4" diameter. The investment in downstream cooling will increase the throughput and put the company in a more competitive position on pipe and tubing diameters from 2" to 4" and larger profile business. The extruder is suitable to run engineering grade materials that require higher processing temperatures. Blackwell Plastics targets short run specialty extruded products in a large variety of engineering and commodity grade materials including PC, TPE and TPU's, POM, Nylon, PPS and custom compounds. Blackwell Plastics also added to the finishing capacity with investments in flexible coiling equipment and an additional travelling saw for cut to length capacity. "This is a game changer for us as it significantly enhances our production capacity and capability to produce larger diameter tubing and profile shapes. This completes the earlier investments in the heart of our injection molding capacity and puts the company in a strong position for long term growth." says Jeff Applegate, President of Blackwell Plastics. Blackwell Plastics, founded in 1939, operates 30 injection molding machines to 600 tons and 5 extrusion lines for custom profile, rod and tubing.
