New Designers Exhibition at London's Business Design Centre Showcases VectorWorks Projects

Columbia, MD (June 27, 2006) - Nemetschek North America is pleased to announce that students from Buckinghamshire New University formerly known as Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) will be exhibiting their projects, many of which were designed in VectorWorks, at the New Designers '06 exhibition at London's Business Design Centre. The largest graduate design event in the United Kingdom opens June 29, 2006, and runs through July 9, 2006.

The exhibition will showcase students' work from a wide range of art and design disciplines, including fine art, interior design and set design, graphics, ceramics, glass, textiles, furniture conservation and restoration, furniture design, metalwork, and jewelry.

For their final project, BCUC students chose from three sites in Reykjavik, Iceland-the adaptive re-use of a group of three industrial buildings on the harbor front, a windswept five-acre site on the city's edge, and a civic space in the city center that provides a setting for a performance.

"We have been teaching VectorWorks as the principal drawing package for six years and will continue to teach it enthusiastically in the studio, since every single member of the studio teaching staff uses VectorWorks in his or her practice," says Jonathan Bell, senior lecturer, BA (Hons) Spatial Design, at BCUC and partner of BBUK Landscape Architecture. "As a designer, I find VectorWorks to be the best software on the market. Nearly all the small- to mid-sized architectural firms in London use VectorWorks, and bigger practices tend to use other programs. While our CAD tutors will teach AutoCAD®, this combination will give the best students the opportunity to be fluent in both when they graduate and, thus, raise their chances of getting good jobs."

The Spatial Design course at BCUC reflects the multi-disciplinary nature of contemporary design practice where art, architecture, and landscape meet to shape spaces, places, and experiences. In addition to a dedicated studio space, students have use of networked computer studios with a range of CAD software.
