Neustar Underscores Support for the UltraViolet(TM) Digital Entertainment EcoSystem

Consumers Can Be Excited by Rapid Pace of Deployment

STERLING, Va. and LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5, 2011 - Neustar, Inc. (NYSE: NSR) today emphasized its readiness to provide rapid integration support for companies implementing recently-announced specifications for UltraViolet. UltraViolet is an interoperable ecosystem of digital content, digital entertainment storefronts, digital service providers and connected consumer electronic devices that all work together to provide consumers with greater choice, confidence and freedom in how they collect and watch digital movies, TV shows and other entertainment.

Neustar, which was chosen by the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) LLC to power the UltraViolet Account system and its Digital Locker, will work with all DECE licensees to rapidly link their content, services, apps and devices with this web-based user authentication and rights management system which is central to the UltraViolet ecosystem. Consumers' free UltraViolet Accounts will enable access to all of their UltraViolet movies, TV and other entertainment in one place, allowing consumers to manage access to content in their or their household's account and register or update different devices for playback. DECE and Neustar together expect the introduction of consumer UltraViolet offerings in mid-2011.

"Our vision at Neustar is to make it possible for consumers to access their digital content wherever and whenever they choose, and UltraViolet is fulfilling that vision," said Lisa Hook, Neustar's President and CEO. "The pace at which DECE is rolling out UltraViolet is to be applauded, and consumers can truly be excited by the significant traction UltraViolet is getting in the marketplace among major content providers, retailers and service providers."

"Over the past year since DECE's selection of Neustar to build and operate the UltraViolet Account system, Neustar's commitment and effectiveness on both technology and market development dimensions has been invaluable," said Mark Teitell, General Manager of DECE. "DECE is fostering a competitive market of services and solutions providers that are helping content companies and distributors bring UltraViolet to consumers - and Neustar's efforts have hastened the availability of key infrastructure to make this a reality."

"DECE and Neustar, working together, are bringing the UltraViolet brand to commercial reality in record time, given the scale and complexity required. As the central operational enabler of the UltraViolet experience, we look forward to working with all DECE licensees, in a neutral and trusted manner, to onboard their content, offerings and services into the UltraViolet experience," said Timothy Dodd, Vice President and General Manager, Neustar Media.
