NEMA's Distribution Automation Section Scheduled to Release First White Paper



ROSSLYN, Va.—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), on behalf of its Distribution Automation (DA) Section, is scheduled to release its first white paper focusing on the importance of incorporating DA into the grid, its cost justifications, and a recommended call to action so the benefits of DA equipment and systems can be fully utilized.



According to G&W Electric Company General Manager–Distribution Automation and Section Chairman Pat Avery, the white paper, titled “Distribution Automation and the Modernized Grid,” represents the first step in a series of ongoing targeted activities in communicating the benefits of DA. It also aims to educate stakeholders, the general public, federal and state regulators, energy policy officials, and utilities that DA is as a key smart grid component that provides reliability, resiliency, flexibility, and agility to the electrical grid.



This paper is scheduled to be released sometime during the March–April 2015 time frame.



NEMA’s Distribution Automation (DA) Section represents manufacturers of DA equipment and systems used to supervise, measure, monitor, and control electrical loads on distribution grids and at distribution substations.
