NEMA Publishes ANSI C78.377-2015 American National Standard for Electric Lamps Specifications for the Chromaticity of Solid State Lighting (SSL) Products
ROSSLYN, Va.—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published ANSI C78.377-2015 American National Standard for Electric Lamps—Specifications for the Chromaticity of Solid State Lighting (SSL) Products. This standard specifies the range of white light recommended for general lighting with solid-state products to ensure high-quality white light. It categorizes chromaticity so that accurate descriptions of the white light can be communicated effectively to consumers.
ANSI C78.377 was originally developed in 2011 by the ANSI Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) C78 for Electric Lamps. In this revision, the specifications for nominal correlated color temperature values of 2200 K and 2500 K have been added. This standard also justifies the move from MacAdam ellipses to quadrangles.
