NEMA Recruits Tracy Cullen, CAE, to Top Communications Post
Press release date: Dec 22, 2015
“Tracy is a highly accomplished and experienced marketing and communications professional,” said NEMA President and CEO Kevin Cosgriff. “Her experience in adjacent industries brings an invaluable perspective to NEMA, and we could not be more pleased to have her join the team.”
“I have been promoting American manufacturing for more than 15 years, so NEMA is a natural fit for me,” Cullen added. “This is a very strong association, and I am delighted to be a part of it, working to advance America’s electrical and medical imaging innovations.”
Cullen managed the chlorine industry’s crisis response through two fatal train derailments in a six-month period without incurring new regulatory burdens. While she was at the plastics association, her team became the first industry group to persuade Wal-Mart to reverse its decision to ban a certain packaging material. As a result of her content marketing strategy, the association was the only manufacturing group invited to Our Oceans 2014, a conference hosted by Secretary Kerry.
Cullen directed the execution of a $7 million operational machine-cell exhibit at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center. In partnership with Dow, DuPont, and other leading plastics manufacturers, Fantastic Plastics Works showcased plastics innovations to 30 million consumers, and favorability ratings for plastics spiked by 20% within three years.
Her portfolio includes international marketing campaigns for NPE (the International Plastics Showcase), one of the world’s largest B2B trade shows, spanning one million square feet. By cultivating strong relationships with international business publishers, Cullen negotiated multi-million-dollar advertising barters, securing global coverage valued at three times her operating budget.
Cullen is a Certified Association Executive and holds a professional certificate in digital media management from Georgetown University as well as a bachelor of arts in communication from George Mason University. Her creative marketing teams have been recognized with more than thirty awards from national industry publications and organizations, including the American Society of Association Executives, International Association of Exhibitions and Events, Association Trends, PRNews, and the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) represents nearly 400 electrical, medical imaging, and radiation therapy manufacturers on the forefront of electrical safety, reliability, resilience, efficiency, and energy security.
