NEMA Publishes Reaffirmed Residential Control Standards DC 5, DC 12, and DC 13



(Rosslyn, Va.) April 1, 2008 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has reaffirmed the following standards:

o DC 5-1989 (R1996, R2002, R2008) Residential Controls-Surface-Type Controls for Electric Storage Water Heaters

o DC 12-1985 (R1991, R1996, R2002, R2008) Residential Controls-Hot-Water Immersion Controls

o DC 13-1979 (R1985, R1991, R1997, R2002, R2008) Residential Controls-Line-Voltage Integrally Mounted Thermostats for Electric Heaters

All three standards have been developed by the Residential Controls Section to promote a better understanding between the manufacturer and the user by providing for interchangeability though industry standardization and to assist in selecting and obtaining the proper equipment. They feature updated normative references.
