NEMA Releases Statement on Recent Trade Developments

ROSSLYN, Va., May 31, 2019—The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) representing United States electrical and medical imaging equipment manufacturers, called on the U.S. and Mexico to act quickly to reach an understanding that will prevent the imposition of U.S. tariffs on imports from Mexico.

“Many of our Member companies operate on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, and have built highly integrated, efficient, and valuable supply chains over the last two decades,” said NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff. “The efforts of our respective governments and industries should be defined by greater collaboration in addressing shared challenges, so recently exemplified by the new U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement.”

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) represents nearly 325 electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers that make safe, reliable, and efficient products and systems. Our combined industries account for 360,000 American jobs in more than 7,000 facilities covering every state. These industries produce $106 billion in shipments and $36 billion in exports of electrical equipment and medical imaging technologies per year.
