NEMA Endorses IDEA as Sole Preferred Source for Member Company Product Data
ROSSLYN, Va., —The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) endorsed the Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA) as the electrical industry’s preferred source for timely, synchronized manufacturer-supplied product data for the electrical products supply channel during the NEMA Board of Governors meeting July 16.
IDEA’s Industry Data Warehouse (IDW) includes more than 950,000 fully attributed stock-keeping units (commonly referred to as SKUs) that consist of such particulars as pricing, packaging, and safety data; digital media; installation video links; and images. New tools have been added to improve product data from manufacturers at the source and to facilitate identification by distributors where data is incomplete.
In announcing the endorsement, NEMA President and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff said, “We fully encourage our members to use IDEA services. The IDW was built with a focus on manufacturer-supplied data in a one-to-many environment. This helps our member companies control their product information, promote brand identity, and increase speed to market. In addition, the information that manufacturers make available through the IDW goes through multiple quality checks, thus making it the most authoritative entering the distribution channel.”
IDEA has targeted 95 percent compliance with its data certification program by October 1, 2015.
