Nedap Creates Global RF Label Competence Centre

Based on its experience with leading Retail customers on source tagging, Nedap has created an independent "Global RF Label Competence Centre".
This centre offers more than 35 years of RF EAS and RFID label-expertise and QC-systems to retailers, label integrators and label manufacturers, all over the world. Using this expertise, they will get access to controlled quality and special-/custom design labels from multiple manufacturers. This should lead to enhanced performance and innovation in RF labels and (source) tagging concepts.
The centre will have its own production facility for special (Nedap) labels.
Since many years, Nedap has been actively involved in the development of RF EAS tags, systems and management software. This has resulted among others in a connected (source) tagging concept called "EASi/Tagging".
In combination with Nedap's connected EAS systems (antennas, deactivators, detachers, RFID modules and Metal Detection), EASi/Tagging enables control over tagging programmes from the manufacturer of labels through the logistic chain of the Retailer, up to the POS in the store. This connected (source) tagging concept has received a positive reception by a rapidly increasing number of customers and label integrators.
Based on this experience with retailers and label integrators we see an increasing demand for special design labels, combination labels and integrated Label testing.
The new centre will focus on the design of special labels, combination labels (RF EAS and RFID), label quality, performance improvements and new label technologies. The centre will support source tagging programs and offer support in negotiating label contracts.
Up to now, the development of the tags for this concept has been done in close cooperation with Asialco in Shanghai and this has resulted in a wide range of new and improved RF EAS labels.
The Nedap tags can be recognized by a special purple web color and these labels only are tested 100% on a new and innovative high-speed in-line label test system. This will bring the quality of RF EAS labels on an unprecedented level. The labels will not only be tested on frequency (such as usual), but also on the other specifications of the VDI 4471 source-tagging standard: Q-factor, Effective Volume and Deactivation Sensitivity.
With this independent service Nedap brings more quality and added value solutions to Retail customers and label integrators in order to enable well defined and controlled (source) tagging programmes as an integrated part of Loss Prevention.
