NCMS Helps Companies Identify Future Opportunities

Department of Labor Grant Helps Michigan Manufacturers

ANN ARBOR, MI - April 19, 2007. The Honorable Joe Knollenberg recently toured a Michigan manufacturing company which is using NCMS developed technology roadmapping and lean production techniques to become the supplier of choice for its customers.

Su-Dan Corporation recently participated in an NCMS technology roadmapping workshop to identify areas of product diversification and of new market development. NCMS was able to work with Su-Dan and other companies in southeast Michigan as a result of a grant from the Department of Labor. This grant allowed NCMS to train Su-Dan Corporation engineers in how to apply lean product development techniques to improve their competitive advantage in the international marketplace.

The Lean Product Development Initiative (LPDI) is a set of products and services offered to manufacturers by NCMS. These services focus on development from a knowledge based perspective rather than the traditional control based perspective common in many companies. LPDI offers workshops, training, consulting, and change management to help organizations make a great leap forward in their product and process development productivity and reduce cycle times.
