NAPCO Security Technologies Detectors Guard National Military Park on 150th Anniversary of the Campaign for Chattanooga

Chickamauga National Military Park Visitor Center Utilizes Napco Dual Technology Detectors

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: NSSC), one of the world's leading suppliers of high performance electronic security equipment for over 30 years, announced that its NAPCO Adaptive® Dual Technology Microwave/PIR detectors are being utilized to fight false alarms and provide superior detection in a variety of environmental conditions in the Chickamauga National Military Park Visitor Center, in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. The NAPCO detectors automatically adjust to the environment, minute by minute, for the ultimate false alarm immunity and reliability at the museum, which commemorates the battlefield of the same name, Chickamauga.

When installed, NAPCO's Dual Technology Detectors power up and initialize the first of 12 sensitivity modes, which enables it to sample prevailing environmental conditions, such as radio frequency (RF), sunlight, vehicle lights, lightning, and HVAC shifts. It automatically selects the most appropriate detection mode to optimize both intruder-catch and stability, whereas, each time the sensors detect a stimulus strong enough to generate a signal, but insufficient in strength to indicate an alarm, the detector will automatically change sensitivity modes, effectively widening the gap between the detected signal and its alarm threshold. Ultimately, environmental disturbances, those that register by the PIR (Passive Infrared Motion sensor) and/or microwave sensor, are better tolerated and the threat of false alarms or nuisance alarms is dramatically reduced.

Richard Soloway, Chairman and President of NAPCO commented, "The capabilities that we have designed into these detectors by far surpasses the performance of conventional dual technology devices. We are proud that NAPCO Adaptive® Dual Technology Microwave/PIR detectors were chosen to help protect this important historical site."

With an extended front of 150 miles, Chickamauga was the site of the bloodiest two-and-one-half day battle of the Civil War, where in 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Chattanooga, known as the "Gateway to the Deep South" for its strategic railways and position.
