Nanto Bank Adopts Fujitsu's Contactless Palm Vein Authentication Technology

Tokyo (JCNN) - Fujitsu announced on November 9 that Nanto Bank in Nara has adopted its contactless palm vein authentication technology and will begin offering a biometrics service to its consumer customers on December 19.

With the aid of Fujitsu, the bank will issue a cash card embedded with an IC chip and equip its automated teller machines (ATMs) with an authentication system based on Fujitsu's authentication technology.

By authenticating customers twice, first with a PIN number and then palm vein, the system can increase the level of security to prevent crimes such as unauthorized withdrawal and credit card skimming.
