Nanosys Announces LMS as Second Major Supplier of Quantum Dot Enhancement Films

LMS to utilize Nanosys' proprietary QDEF™ technology for its new Quantum Light Accumulation System (QLAS™)

SAN DIEGO — Nanosys, Inc. today announced LMS Co., Ltd., as the second major supplier of optical films based on its proprietary Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF) light emitting technology. LMS, based in South Korea and one of the world's leading producers of optical films for displays, has been qualified by Nanosys to utilize QDEF technology for its Quantum Light Accumulation Sheet (QLAS). QLAS makes LCDs more vibrant and lifelike by improving brightness and color gamut by over 50%. A demonstration can be seen at the 2014 DisplayWeek this week in San Diego at the LMS booth (#335) and QLAS is now available to display manufacturers.

"Last year we announced the first QDEF display to rave reviews," said Jason Hartlove, president and CEO, Nanosys, Inc. "Now, bringing on LMS as a second high quality supplier, enables our QDEF technology to be widely deployed across all product segments, ensuring availability to all customers."

QDEF displays are brighter and use less energy than other high performance display technologies such as OLED. Each sheet of QLAS manufactured by LMS contains trillions of tiny Quantum Dots. The dots, produced by Nanosys, are tuned to create better color by changing their size during fabrication to emit light at just the right wavelengths. This makes perfectly accurate color with power-sipping energy efficiency possible- Quantum Dot displays are brighter, more efficient, and produce truly vibrant colors.

"By working closely with Nanosys to integrate their Quantum Dot technology into our Light Accumulation Films we're now able to offer color and efficiency performance beyond the best OLEDs at just a fraction of the cost," said Mr. Lah, CEO, LMS Co., Ltd. "This is something that our customers are very excited about."

Both Nanosys, Inc., and LMS Co., Ltd. will attend Society of Information Display's DisplayWeek, June 2-4, in San Diego, California. For more information: www.displayweek.org.
