NACE and NAM announce new directors and their roles.

ANSI member and accredited standards developer NACE International announced that Edward M. Manns will serve as its new director of standards and technical activities. Manns was elected to ANSI Board as director-at-large for 2015–2017 term. ANSI member and accredited standards developer NAM welcomed Ryan Ong as its director of international business policy. In this role, Ong will develop and advocate on international economic and trade policy issues that impact manufacturers.

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.



NACE International, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Edward M. Manns will serve as its new director of standards and technical activities. NACE International is a membership organization that leads the development of corrosion prevention and control standards, as well as related certification and education.



Mr. Manns was elected to the ANSI Board as director-at-large for the 2015-2017 term. Prior to joining NACE, Mr. Manns was the manager of aerospace standards at SAE International, a global association involved in standards development in the aerospace arena, with more than 6,400 related technical documents.



The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has welcomed Ryan Ong as its director of international business policy. In this role, Mr. Ong will develop and advocate on international economic and trade policy issues that impact manufacturers. His focus will include intellectual property rights, standards, conformity assessment, and regulatory issues, as well as business policy issues in China and India.



Mr. Ong previously served as the director of business advisory services for the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC). During his time with USCBC, Mr. Ong oversaw and set strategic direction for the organization’s business advisory services department, working one-on-one with member companies to provide research, advice, and reports on best practices, operational issues, the regulatory environment, and more. He also dealt with operational areas including intellectual property, standards, and innovation issues. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
