Mycotoxin Insurance: Alltech Successfully Defends Technology; Patent Upheld for Next 8 Years
[Lexington, KENTUCKY] - Alltech has once again successfully defended its technology and innovation. The United States Patent and Trademark Office confirmed the validity of U.S. Patent No. 6,045,834 C1, which pertains to Alltech's unique composition for binding and inactivating mycotoxins in animal feed, as well as the process for forming the main ingredient. The patent will remain in place through April 16, 2019.
Alltech's mycotoxin innovation has a proven scientific backbone that includes eight patents and 52 peer-reviewed papers. An additional 17 PhDs and 19 Master's have been completed through 14 years of research on the technology.
"The defense of Alltech's patent was simple because the company has complete confidence in the wealth of its research data and the exceptional characteristics of its technology. When it comes to mycotoxins, Alltech is unrivaled in the marketplace," said Mike Castle, chief legal officer at Alltech.
The company also recently debuted KnowMycotoxins.com, its redesigned Web site to help time-strapped industry professionals overcome mycotoxin challenges. Available in six languages, KnowMycotoxins.com includes up-to-date information on mycotoxin regulations and provides an opportunity to interact directly with global mycotoxin specialists. Additionally, the site delivers mycotoxin training complemented by an interactive series of videos highlighting the different mycotoxins hotspots at the farm level. These videos are also available on the YouTube channel "KnowMycotoxins Videos."
"Among many other challenges, today's industry professionals face the looming threat of approximately 500 known mycotoxins that can compromise their animals' health, wellness, and even their lives," said Manoella Alves, global brand manager for Alltech's mycotoxin technologies. "Alltech is dedicated to ensuring that these animals and producers have a proven protection. The successful defense of our patent is further external confirmation of our scientifically-proven technology."
