MWH Soft Geocentric Technology Continues To Power Canadian Sewer Modeling Initiative

Broomfield, Colorado USA, October 19, 2005 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that the City of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada, has selected MWH Soft's InfoSewer geocentric software to replace its existing sewer modeling solution. The program will be used to develop cost-effective expansion and rehabilitation strategies for the City's wastewater infrastructure designed to best accommodate continued community growth, maintain regulatory requirements, and improve operations.

Located 100 kilometers east of the City of Vancouver, the City of Chilliwack's sewer department serves a community of approximately 70,000 people through 344 km of sewer pipes and 38 pump stations. Chilliwack has both a strong urban sector, with over 82% of the population living in urban communities or suburban neighborhoods, and a substantial rural presence in the hillsides and farming areas. The city is experiencing rapid growth; its population doubled over the last 30 years and is projected to double again by 2031. To accommodate this expansion, the city has instigated a densification and redevelopment strategy for the urban area and a development strategy for the rural area.

Built atop ArcGIS (ESRI, Redlands, CA) with native geodatabase support, InfoSewer offers a single comprehensive, GIS-centric solution for analyzing and managing the most complex sewer collections systems. A seamlessly integrated geocentric framework applies GIS intelligence to engineering-accurate information, coupled with sophisticated hydraulic and quality analyses, and object-component geospatial technologies. The resulting centralized, multi-function sewer modeling system enables world-record performance, scalability, reliability, functionality and interoperability within the powerful ArcGIS environment. This solution completely eliminates the need for inefficient, unreliable data synchronization, synching schemes, or middlelink interfaces required by other software. These and other factors translate to increased productivity, reduced costs, greater efficiency, and improved designs - giving utilities a clear competitive advantage.

"The City of Chilliwack clearly understands how to use sewer modeling and GIS information to its competitive advantage," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "The City's decision to enlist MWH Soft in solving an enterprise-wide challenge further validates our approach to helping utility companies worldwide use geospatial and modeling data to optimize system performance and management and better serve their customers. We're proud to know that our InfoSewer solution will be helping the City of Chilliwack build a foundation for success in the decades to come."
