Multisorb to Offer Solutions for Reducing the High Costs of Moisture, Oxygen and VOC Related Product Failures at CES 2016

Buffalo, New York - Multisorb Technologies will highlight how its sorbent technologies can help reduce the high costs of product failures from moisture, oxygen and VOC related issues at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6-9, 2016.

Moisture, oxygen and VOCs in electronic products can cause product failure, performance degradation, corrosion, and fogging on optics. Even when a product has an IP 68 water proof rating, moisture can still create challenges. The high costs associated with failures come not only from correcting the product itself but also from increased warranty and repair costs, potential liability compensation, and loss of brand equity.

"Minimizing moisture, oxygen and VOC issues through active packaging technology can help prevent product failures and related expenses," said Bo Thompson, Electronics Business Development Leader. "Identifying the optimal sorbent solution is crucial and why Multisorb offers evaluation services before making a recommendation."

As part of its evaluation service for moisture, Multisorb engineers can perform a water immersion test to assess a product for leaks. Further testing determines the water vapor permeability of the device housing assembly. This information along with other pertinent data is used to calculate the optimal desiccant formulation and platform required.

Multisorb's sorbent platforms offer electronics manufacturers innovative options. In addition to drop-in packets, solid moisture absorbers can be custom formed to fit into your product housing. Or, they can be built-in as an internal device using sorbent-loaded thermoplastic technology to replace a product component such as a metal or plastic part, ballast, insulator, or shock pad.
