Mouser Electronics Signs Distribution Agreement with FTDI

Mansfield, Texas, USA - February 8, 2006 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., the fastest growing catalog distributor in the electronics industry, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Future Technology Devices International Limited (FTDI) to stock their USB silicon and software solutions.

FTDI's products provide easy interfacing to devices over the Universal Serial Bus (USB) and combine easy-to-implement IC devices with proven, ready-to-use, royalty-free USB firmware and driver software. Their latest product, Vinculum, is a single chip USB host controller aimed specifically at embedded applications where power budget and cost are critical. These host controller ICs have a built-in 8/32-bit MCU and embedded Flash memory that encapsulates the USB device classes and can handle the USB Host Interface and data transfer functions.

"Our Oregon office, with its newly built engineering lab, is now positioned to support new design wins for the Americas. Mouser is an excellent compliment to our operations as they stock the full line of FTDI USB solutions making them quickly available to a wide variety of clients," said Jim Kenney, FTDI Sales Engineer. "Mouser's involvement gives a significant increase in our customer reach and confidence with their excellence in service and availability along with a no minimum order requirement."

"We're pleased to offer FTDI's innovative USB products to our engineering customers for their new design projects," said Mike Scott, Mouser Vice President of Active and Passive Components. "We're also pleased to help FTDI gain new customers and penetrate new markets through our innovative marketing programs."

According to Scott, the distribution agreement with FTDI is in keeping with Mouser's unique business model of rapid introduction of the newest, most innovative products and the latest technologies, further enhancing the distributor's time-to-market advantage for their design engineering customers.

Mouser reaches a unique customer base of diverse business accounts that represent a wide range of small, medium, and large companies; as well as individuals and consultants who recommend, specify and purchase board-level components for product designs that other distributors don't reach.

The distributor's broad-based product line, unsurpassed customer service, and streamlined warehouse operations make Mouser the design engineer's one-stop shop for all the board-level components and associated development tools necessary for total project design.
