Modernistic Receives SGIA Sustainability Recognition Award for Eighth Consecutive Year
Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) member company MODERNISTIC was recently honored with their eighth consecutive SGIA Sustainability Recognition Award. MODERNISTIC continues to distinguish itself as a leader of sustainable business practices by being the only printer in the world to receive this distinction for eight consecutive years.
Each company was asked to outline the 2016 sustainability project they had undertaken. MODERNISTIC chose to reduce our overall cleaning disinfectant chemical usage by 75%. Over the course of 2016, we had reduced the cleaning disinfectant chemical usage by 85%. We were able to achieve this by installing a chemical dispensing system which dramatically reduced our chemical waste.
This process change reduces the environmental footprint by lowering our chemical usage and helping decrease waste of chemicals - Disinfectant chemicals mixed accurately versus pouring an estimated amount into containers. In addition to the decreased usage come significant environmental benefits, as MODERNISTIC drastically reduces the amount of plastic of "ready to use' bottles of disinfectant that are shipped into our facility because now we have a concentrated solution.
MODERNISTIC first received certification from the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership in 2009, and is currently only one of a few screen and digital large format printers in the nation with this distinction.
