Miller Fabrication Solutions Appoints New Director of Business Processes

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – November 18, 2019 – Miller Fabrication Solutions, a strategic metal fabrication partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) across construction and forestry, transportation, oil and gas equipment and other heavy industries, announces the appointment of Paul Sorek as Director of Business Processes, effective immediately. Sorek assumes the role from Rich Steel, who has been named Director of Lean Manufacturing.

Sorek will oversee the departments that support and add value to the company’s operations, including automation, engineering, process development and quality control.

“These departments support Miller’s fabricating operations in different ways,” said Sorek. “However, they can all contribute to making our processes more efficient, effective and profitable. My priorities lie in strengthening team alignment and ensuring we bring the utmost value to our OEM customers.”

“Paul’s caliber of experience and proven track record of successfully managing growth makes him a great asset to Miller,” said Eric Miller, president of Miller Fabrication Solutions. “Our leadership team is well positioned with the addition of Paul.”

A native of Brookville, Pennsylvania, Sorek was already familiar with Miller Fabrication Solutions.

“I’ve known the Miller family for a long time and have a lot of respect for them and the business they have built,” said Sorek. “I was thrilled when the opportunity to join the company presented itself.”

Sorek comes to Miller after 15 years at Matson Lumber Company, including the last eight as president of the company.

While at Matson, Sorek oversaw the company’s domestic and international sales, financial, marketing, operations and human resource functions. Under Sorek’s leadership, Matson doubled its net income over five years and had a rapid sales growth of 67% over three years—setting a company sales record.

As president, Sorek also reduced Matson’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordables by 38% and lost time by 45% over two years.

Before being promoted to president of Matson, Sorek was the company’s forestry and sawmill division manager. Sorek also previously served in various hydrogeologist roles for Key Environmental, Inc., MFG, Inc. and Southwest Groundwater Consultants and was a water quality data analyst for the National Parks Service.

Sorek has a master’s degree in hydrogeology from Colorado State University and a bachelor’s degree in geosciences from Franklin and Marshall College.

Sorek, his wife and two children reside in Brookville. Outside of work, Sorek enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, cycling, kayaking and participating in other outdoor activities.
