Metso to Expand Manufacturing Capacity in China

Metso Minerals will expand its manufacturing capacity at the Tianjin factory in China with a EUR 5 million investment. The investment will double the capacity of the Tianjin factory, allowing it to take a global role in the manufacturing of small unit crushers. The investment will also release capacity at Metso Minerals' other factories for manufacturing large and special crushers. This way the company will be able to better meet the increased worldwide demand for crushing and screening solutions.

Metso Minerals will build a new workshop and warehouse and upgrade the current factory building and production equipment in Tianjin. The expansion, to be completed by the end of 2008, is a part of Metso's profitable growth strategy. The infrastructure boom in Asia and the other emerging markets shows in the increased demand for Metso's mining and construction related equipment and services. Metso's aim is to respond to the customer needs by strengthening its presence, capabilities, and the capacity to supply in the emerging countries.

Metso Minerals has recently invested EUR 5 million to expanding its manufacturing, research and office premises in Tampere and another EUR 5 million in its new manufacturing unit in Columbia, USA. The Tampere unit specializes in manufacturing large and custom-made crushers and mobile crushing plants, and its research and development operations serve Metso Minerals' crusher manufacturing on a global basis while the Columbian facility will serve the growing demand of mobile crushing units in the U.S market.
