Metso Minerals to Partner in Logistics in Europe


Metso Minerals has signed a 5-year contract with SKF Logistics Services over Metso's parts logistics and warehousing operations in the European construction market. With this partnership Metso Minerals targets to improve parts availability and lead times in Europe for higher customer satisfaction.

The new distribution center managed by SKF Logistics Services will start its operation within the first quarter of 2008 in Tongeren, Belgium. The center will support Metso Minerals' construction customers mainly in Central Europe. The distribution centers in Tampere, Finland and Mcon, France will continue to support Metso Minerals' customers locally.

Parts logistics represent an important part in Metso Minerals' customer service supply chain. According to the agreement, SKF Logistics Services will take over the warehousing, collecting and packing operations, while Metso Minerals will continue to manage the orders and inventories, and technical product support.

SKF Logistics provides warehousing, transportation and packaging to a number of industries worldwide. The company has approximately 1,000 employees.
