Metrobility Optical Systems Receives Russian Certification for its Radiance Family of Products

Merrimack, NH - January 18, 2006 - Metrobility Optical Systems has received certification for its Radiance family of products from the Russian RF Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications for compliance with relevant Russian safety requirements and product standards. The testing was carried out through the company's Russian distributor, EMAG. The certifications allow the approved devices to be used and distributed throughout Russia.
EMAG markets Metrobility's Radiance chassis-based platform R5000 with interface line cards for Fast and Gigabit Ethernet, CWDM platform R4000 with multiplexer and OADM modules, standalone chassis-based platforms as well as the Radiance Access Optical Network Unit RA21.
"The choice for cooperation with Metrobility was made based on their wide range of carrier-class Ethernet equipment and solutions that can help Russian operators and service providers to efficiently converge their networks providing intelligence and advance management capabilities," stated Evgeny Chepusov, the head of the Telecommunication Systems Department of EMAG.
EMAG marketing manager Dmitry Guseltsov identified the typical applications for Russian operators and service providers which can be solved by Metrobility equipment. These include media converters, line protection and restoration (LPR) devices, BWDM and CWDM equipment as well as support of the newest standards such as IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile which will allow Russian operators and service providers to build reliable optical access networks.
Steven Curtis, Metrobility's senior vice president of worldwide sales for Metrobility, stated, "EMAG has taken an important step by obtaining the certifications necessary to sell our equipment in Russia. They are making significant inroads in the telecommunications market where the service provider needs to satisfy a wide range of customer requirements and service level agreements (SLAs) without radically changing the network topology."
