Mercury Computer Systems Showcases Visage PACS at RSNA 2005 and Marks 1000th Installation of Award-Winning Image Distribution Solution

Version 4.0 Features Workflow Optimization and System Integration with Real- Time Access to Medical Image Data and Reports

CHICAGO, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) is presenting the newest version of Visage(TM) PACS, its web- based image distribution software solution (formerly known as RADIN) at the 91st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The Company also announced the completion of its 1000th installation of this award-winning web-based PACS (picture archiving and communications system) software. This milestone marks Mercury's position as a leading OEM supplier in the worldwide PACS market.

Visage PACS 4.0 is part of Mercury's revolutionary platform designed to bring 3D to the core of the imaging workflow. "Visage PACS enables high- quality, accurate diagnoses with a significant reduction in image visualization time and data management," said Marcelo Lima, Vice President of Commercial Imaging and Visualization at Mercury. "It provides enhanced visibility into the 'region of interest' in 2D or 3D, enabling physicians to see minute changes in respective structures."

The 1000th installation of Visage PACS, completed in September 2005, is integrated into the existing Radiology Information System (RIS) for the North West Wales NHS Trust, enabling all departments at each of the nine hospitals to have online access to medical image data and reports in real time. "All 150 current users are able to simply log into the system via the Web and have instant access to their respective data," said Ian Wilson, Ferrania UK's business manager, UK and Nordic region. "The completely digitized workflow significantly reduces access time to the image data, and thus enables enhanced and more efficient patient care. In addition, if one of the computers in a cluster fails, the remaining computers will automatically take on the jobs of the failed machine, significantly reducing downtime."

Version 4.0 of Visage PACS offers improved workflow support for radiologists and physicians. DICOM Print now allows direct image printing from a web-based client to a laser camera. Furthermore, Visage PACS 4.0 simplifies the integration into hospital infrastructures through standards such as IHE and HL 7. Also, Mercury OEM partners have the flexibility to integrate and adapt all Visage components into their product offerings.

"Based on the seamless integration of 3D into the Visage PACS platform, the visualization of data is significantly accelerated," said Oliver Lehner, Director of Worldwide Sales for Visage PACS at Mercury. "This will greatly reduce the expense of medical image analysis and distribution, and subsequently render costly 3D workstations obsolete."

Mercury is 3D to the Core

Today's high-resolution imaging scanners are creating an explosion of data. Mercury has architected its entire product line for medical OEMs to be 3D to the Core -- a revolutionary new platform designed to empower the transformation of the diagnostic workflow to fully integrated, seamless 3D visualization.

Mercury will hold demonstrations of its Visage platform, including Visage PACS, at RSNA November 27 through December 1. Visit Mercury in the South Building, Hall A, Section 3, Booth #1912, or online at mc.com/RSNA2005 for more information on Mercury's 3D to the Core imaging solutions.
