Mek to Exhibit at NEW South Africa with Zetech on Stand # B22

Mek, (Marantz Electronics Ltd), is to exhibit at National Electronics Week South Africa 2014 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg,  11-12 March with distributor Zetech on stand B22.

Mek's latest PowerSpector Series features an entirely new generation of mechanical, camera, sensor, and software technologies that measurably propel the performance of Mek AOI beyond the norm and create new standards for speed, accuracy and inspection strategy.

The new FDAz inspection head enables 9 Camera AOI featuring Tilt-Shift & Telecentric optics with automatic Z-axis.  8 Side cameras in 10µ resolution with Tilt-Shift optics technology … familiar in architectural photography… reduce image distortion to enable the best capture possible.  A moveable head in Z-Axis brings objects into optimal focus and position, independent of PCB thickness or warping. In combination with the HD 18.75µ or 10µ resolution top camera with Telecentric optics and unique multiplexed 8x CameraLink side camera technology, unprecedented defect visibility is achieved.

Also new in the Mek portfolio is the SpectorBOX "Bottom-Up" Modular AOI system. SpectorBOX, specially engineered for wave and selective solder THT and SMT manufacturing, replaces traditional board flipping alternatives in less space and at lower cost. The system is ideally engineered to accommodate solder frames on return and/or feed conveyors. As the name implies, SpectorBox offers bottom side, top side or simultaneous dual side inspection, deploying up to 18 cameras, Z axis positioning and auto-focus.

PowerSpector S1 Solder Paste Inspection by MEK employs a unique new “5D” technology that delivers true area, shape, offset, volume and height measurement together and complete for the first time.  Simultaneous capture of colour 2D imaging and accurate 3D height profiles using a dual illumination, single sensor, provides identical resolution for 2D and 3D imaging.  Significant operating benefits, include reduced set up time, increased cycle speed and actual zero reference determination and simplified calibration across the entire board to 1 micron repeatability.  With elegant, real-time SPC process data management, PowerSpector S1 delivers defect detection far beyond current industry standards.

Members of the Mek and Zetech team will be on the stand to welcome visitors and answer questions on any of the Mek technologies.

About MEK

A former division of Marantz well known for its high quality Audio/Video products, MEK Japan (Marantz Electronics Kabushiki Kaisha), developed its first AOI system in 1994. Developed to inspect PCB assemblies for correct component placement and soldering, the company's original AOI system was designed for use in Marantz factories. Proving to be a highly successful, cost-effective alternative to traditional human inspection, MEK developed its first generation commercial system in 1996. With a steadily growing installed base, MEK Japan and its European headquarters, MEK has sold over 5000 units worldwide to date. Now well established as a leading force in AOI technologies, the company recently launched a 5D post-print SPI system which combines 3D and 2D image processing methodologies to deliver unprecedented defect detection.
