Mazak Optonics to Introduce New Laser Technology Advancements at FABTECH

Elgin, Illinois, - Mazak Optonics is the exhibitor to see at FABTECH
2011 for the latest advancements in laser-cutting technology. At the show, taking place
November 14-17 at McCormick Place in Chicago, the company will showcase a wide
range of applications and demonstrate several new machines in booth 1148.

FABTECH attendees will be the first to witness Mazakʼs inaugural fiber laser. Built on
the companyʼs OPTIPLEX platform, this laser achieves extremely high speeds via an
IPG fiber resonator, which yields faster cuts through thin gauge material and
significantly reduces operating costs.

The companyʼs new OPTIPLEX 2D laser cutting system with flexible 2-pallet changer
provides high throughput, AO/5 automated setup technologies and rugged construction.
By combining integrated intelligent automation and superior cutting speeds, this job
shop laser accurately processes material thicknesses from the thinnest of steel to 1"
mild steel. During booth demonstrations, show attendees will experience the machineʼs
new user-friendly PreView II touch screen control and new 4,000-watt type 10 resonator
that lowers operating costs.

Visitors to the Mazak Optonics booth will also get to witness the new performance
power of the SuperTurbo-X Mark III. The company took this already popular lasercutting
system and made it even more advanced by increasing its power output to 6,000
watts. This boost allows the system to meet the unique demands of processing thicker
mild steel and stainless materials.

Mazak will also introduce its new modular material automation system that is
expandable from one up to four laser-cutting machines. For the purpose of catering to
specific operational needs, this modular system offers a variety of loading tables,
stocking towers up to 40 shelves, unload stations and workpiece storage towers. The
new line controller helps increase system flexibility and improves throughput.

Lastly, FABTECH attendees will get to observe the companyʼs STX Mark III RTC, which
expands laser services beyond flat plate. This unique 2D laser system integrates a rotary chuck for tube and pipe cutting with the ability to tap and chamfer in a single setup on one machine.
