Marlin Steel Registered ISO for Quality of its Systems

Marlin Steel Wire Products, a leading manufacturer of industrial material handling containers, has been registered for the excellence of its management and operations by one of the world’s leading quality assessors.

Marlin was registered as an ISO 9001: 2008 operation by International Quality Registrars Corp. of Frederick, Maryland.

“This certification is a credit to all of the employees at Marlin,” said Drew Greenblatt, president of Marlin Steel. “Many clients want to know if a prospective supplier has the ISO emblem to ensure the quality of production. For engineering in our field, ISO certification is rare.”

One-fifth of Marlin's staff is made up of mechanical engineers. The company produces steel wire and sheet metal containers for a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, defense and pharmaceuticals. It recently celebrated 1,500 consecutive days without a lost-time accident on its factory floor -- more than four years running.

Marlin must pass an audit every six months for three years to maintain its ISO seal. More than 1 million organizations around the world gain certification from the International Organization for Standardization. The process verifies the quality of an operation through a certified third-party. Its use has doubled during the past decade and is one of the most widely used management tools in the world today.

Established in 1968, Marlin has grown revenue seven years in a row. Mr. Greenblatt is a member of the executive board of the National Association of Manufacturers and is chairman of the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland.
