Marlin Steel Purchases Madsen Wire

Baltimore, Md., Feb. 22, 2022 — Continuing to enhance its metal forming capabilities, Marlin Steel Wire Products LLC (MarlinWire.com) acquired Madsen Wire Products (madsenwire.com) of Orland, Indiana. Since 1938, Madsen Wire has specialized in precision wire forms, grids, mesh, and welded wire mats, point of purchase displays as well as fleet vehicle security partitions and refrigerator shelving. The companies completed the acquisition in December of 2021.

With Madsen Wire's specialized staff and machinery, the acquisition increases process efficiency and expands the companies' resources. "The combination of the two companies will allow Madsen and Marlin to ship faster and provide much more capacity to handle bigger jobs, since so many opportunities are coming back from China," said Drew Greenblatt, president of Marlin Steel and Madsen Wire. "We are seeing a surge of business and welcome the abilities of the folks at Madsen. We are all in on USA manufacturing."

Gabrielle Silgalis, the companies' HR and special projects manager, noted, "We will be adding 20% more talent to the Madsen team in Indiana to keep up with our surging demand. We have an extraordinary workforce in Indiana and they are getting reorders and new clients. We are growing shifts, so great people are required fast to keep up with all the new opportunities."

A full-service leader in the wire manufacturing industry, Madsen Wire provides wire fabrication parts throughout Indiana and across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The company offers custom-fabricated straight and cut-off wire options as well as welding and plating or powder-coating services. "Madsen Wire's focus on quality and on-time delivery has been the driving force of our success. By adding the strong suit of Marlin's engineering team, our footprint will become global," said Steve Cochran, Madsen Wire's general manager.

Madsen Wire has the capacity to handle multiple-location shipments for orders 1,000,000+ mesh grates or wire racks or formed wire components through their dedication to technological advancements and equipment. "We have invested millions of dollars in new robotic welding technology and wire forming technology," explained Brenda Snyder, co-owner of Madsen Wire. "We are thrilled that the team will be building on our investments in the past and growing in the future, all the while supporting Northeast Indiana with a rapidly growing factory that offers great wages and benefits."

Greg Parker, Snyder's partner at Madsen Wire, noted that safety was another consideration in the acquisition. "Marlin Steel’s history of safety (1,400+ days) and Madsen’s history of safety (1,000+ days) were a big factor in our getting comfortable with each other. I wanted our employees to have a company that embraced the safety culture as we did. Marlin and Madsen’s team gets safety."

To provide customers with reliable, uniform results, Marlin Steel operates a range of automated manufacturing equipment, such as Trumpf Laser, Trumpf Punch, Trumpf Press brakes, Lincoln Robotic tig and mig welding, Fanuc robots, wire straightening and cut-off machinery, a state-of-the-art NUMALLIANCE machine for 3D wire forming, press brakes, air-operated benders, and bending and forming machinery including two AIM wire benders. This equipment can handle wire sizes from 0.08 to 0.50 inches in carbon materials and stainless, galvanized, or regular steel.
