Marks Continued Expansion for Mahr Inc.
Dimensional Metrology Company Adds Employees, Opens New Customer Centers Across the U.S. and Introduces a Number of Innovative Products
Providence, RI – January 21, 2020 – Mahr Inc., a leading provider of dimensional metrology solutions, closed a year of continued expansion in 2019 — including new hires, opening customer centers across the United States, and introducing a number of innovative products — enabling its customers to improve manufacturing quality with faster throughput and higher accuracy for the broadest range of applications. Additionally, The Rhode Island Manufacturers Association has chosen Mahr as the winner of its annual award which recognizes companies that have been instrumental in the growth and success of manufacturing in Rhode Island.
The company added 22 new employees in 2019 throughout its operations, sales, finance and engineering departments, including the appointment of Bryan Orr as Vice President of Sales for the Americas. Orr has more than 30 years of experience in industrial sales management, and has worked in management roles for companies including Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric and Emerson. He joins Mahr after most recently serving as Regional Manager for Automatic Systems, an industry leading provider of system integration. Brett Green, former Vice President of Sales for the Americas, will be rejoining his family in England and transitioning to the role of Vice President Sales EMEA.
“I am excited to build upon the achievements of 2019 and lead Mahr to continued success in 2020,” said Orr. “We are proud to be the partner of choice for our customers seeking to streamline manufacturing operations as well as enhance quality assurance practices.”
The company also continued its expansion across the United States, celebrating the grand opening of its new Southeast Regional Customer Center in Greenville, SC in early June, followed by the grand opening of its new Midwest Regional Customer Center in the Detroit area in Wixom, MI in July of 2019.
2019 also saw several new innovative product releases from Mahr, including:
- MarSurf® GD Series: Developed from the ground up with the leading technology, quality and innovation that Mahr is known for, MarSurf GD series measuring stations provide unprecedented levels of speed, flexibility and intelligent ease of use, allowing users to improve the manufacturing quality of workpieces with faster throughput and higher accuracy for the broadest range of applications. GD series systems enable profile and waviness evaluations to be carried out in addition to surface roughness evaluations.
- MarSurf VD Series: Also developed from the ground up, the variable-drive MarSurf VD series enables roughness and contour measurements to be performed on the same machine. The operator can easily and quickly change between a high-precision roughness probe system or a highly dynamic contour probe system, depending on the measuring task.
- Precimar® SM 60 Length Measurement System: An easy-to-use length measurement instrument for fast and precise external measurements on shop floor parts, with a measuring range of 60 mm. The SM 60 incorporates a 25 mm sensitive contact and a fixed reference jaw with a 35 mm adjustment to obtain the full 60 mm measurement capacity.
- Precimar® ICM 100 Expansion: The expansion of Mahr’s proven solution for testing dial and digital indicators, test indicators, and dial comparators to include image processing, designed for the automated testing of measuring equipment. The image processing upgrade makes working with the measuring instrument safer and faster—a camera automatically records the indicated values of the test indicators and forwards them to a software for processing.
- High Resolution Digital Indicators: New higher-selectable resolution option for MarCator 1086 R and 1087 R digital indicators. The new options offer six different resolutions, ranging from 0.00001 inches to 0.0005 inches (0.0001 - 0.01 mm).
Furthermore, Mahr continued to express its commitment to the Providence, R.I. community, participating in local programs including taking part in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s MDA Muscle Walk of Greater Providence in May; Earth Day Neighborhood Clean-up; and R.I. blood drives, as well as supporting CCRI’s Fast Track to CNC Manufacturing program and serving as a Capstone Project Sponsor with URI School of Engineering.
